How much can I actually make?
Depends on how many missions you fly. Side hustlers (1/week) earn ~$1,200/month. Part time pilots (3/week) clear ~$3,700/month. Full time pilots booked solid clear $6K+/month. The platform operating fees, insurance, and payment processing takes ~23%. You keep ~77%.
Can I onboard as an LLC or drone business?
Yes. DroConnect supports both individual pilots and business entities. Connect your EIN, route weekly payouts to your business bank account, and your 1099-NEC is issued to your LLC at year end. Select ‘Business’ during Stripe onboarding. Same flow, same verification time.
How does payment work?
Weekly payouts. Once a client approves your deliverables, the funds capture from their card and transfer to your connected account. Payouts land in your bank every week.
What if a client refuses to pay?
They can't. Funds are authorized on their card the moment they post the mission. After you upload deliverables, they have 72 hours to approve or request one revision. If they ghost, the mission auto approves and you get paid.
What if I don't have a Part 107 yet?
You'll need it. The FAA test costs ~$175 and most pilots pass on the first try. Once you pass, upload your cert in the app and you can start claiming missions immediately.
Do I need my own insurance?
No. Every mission on DroConnect includes $1M of liability coverage built into the platform. You're covered the moment you claim a mission. No upsells, no add ons.
What happens if the weather is bad?
You can propose a reschedule directly to the client through the app. No penalty for either of you. We show flight conditions in the app so you can decide before claiming.
What if I need to cancel a claimed mission?
Don't make a habit of it. Cancellations are allowed but tracked. Three or more cancellations in 30 days triggers a 7-day suspension. Reliable pilots get priority access to high-paying missions.
How fast can I get verified?
Most pilots are approved within 24 hours. Stripe Identity is instant. The longest part is our manual equipment review, because we want to make sure you have the gear to do quality work.
